Sediment prefilter
A 5-micron cartridge right after the main shutoff. It catches grit before it reaches the tanks. Changed once or twice a year.
Catalytic carbon
1.5 cu ft of catalytic carbon on a Clack WS1 valve. It breaks down chloramine, which standard carbon leaves behind. Media lasts about 10 years.
Water softener
10% cross-linked resin with its own brine tank, regenerating by gallons used. Clear glassware, protected water heater, half the soap.
Reverse osmosis
Four stages under the kitchen sink with a dedicated faucet. Drinking and cooking water without the bottled-water bill.
Stages 1 to 3 sit together on the incoming line, usually in the garage or along an exterior utility wall, and treat every tap in the house. Stage 4 is point-of-use: it only polishes the water at the kitchen sink, which is where drinking water comes from.
Absolute Filter
Whole-home catalytic carbon filter
Removes chlorine, chloramine, THMs and odor from every tap in the house. 1.5 ft³ catalytic carbon on a Clack WS1 backwashing valve.

We tell you when it needs something
A softener needs salt and reverse osmosis needs filters, and both are easy to forget until the water changes. We keep the schedule for you: a monthly note about the salt, and a message when the RO filters are due at a year and the membrane at two and a half. Your first annual check-up is included with the install.
Price valid for single-family homes with an accessible main line. We confirm the final price at the visit, before any work starts. Permits, if your city requires one, and plumbing rework beyond the included footage are quoted separately.
